I recently taught a class on Diversity and Verbal De-escalation.  There’s no secret information out there on these topics that I release to the participants.  Basically I review things they already know but try to come at them form a different angle.  I try to speak from a position of somebody who has “been in the trenches” so to speak. To everybody who was at Tis The Season To…Celebrate Women this past Saturday, thanks for coming out and supporting Get Real InC.  It’s always so much fun to meet new people and be able to attempt to empower anybody who will listen to me.
As a father of two daughters I want to give Katie Wolfe a special shout out for doing what she can to guide our female youths.  Keep up the outstanding work Katie.

I taught karate for over 20 years so I know what “karate people” teach.  They teach to use your art only to defend yourself.  That is a gallant thought and a thought of somebody that doesn’t understand survival.

For years I have listened to “experts” in martial arts and self defense tell people that if they are attacked and they apply what they are being taught, it will work. The fact is that many of the “experts” don’t really know if they can apply what they are teaching.  Oh sure, they are high ranking martial artists or maybe they have a great resume, but have they ever had to apply what they teach in a real situation?

For the record I love quotes.  I often use them when teaching lessons.  They sometimes sum up everything you are trying to say but just can’t find the words.  I am posting a quote here.  I want you all to read it and tell me what it means to you.  Here it goes.
