Our Instructors
 Deborah Robertson has an extensive background in Exercise Science attaining certifications through the American College of Sports Medicine and The Cooper Institute for Aerobic Research in Dallas, Texas. She joined the staff at the Indianapolis Police Department Training Academy in 1989 as the Physical Training Coordinator. Through the years with IPD she received certifications as Defensive Tactics and Baton instructor, and also earned her Emergency Medical Technician status. She continues to work with the newly formed Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department as the Spanish Language Training Program coordinator where she instructs Spanish to Recruit and In-service officers. |
 Desmond Woods spent 4 years as a United States Marine. After attending Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis, he went on to receive his degree from the University of Louisville and with his strong understanding regarding the mindset of sex offenders, spent the next four years working with and treating Juvenile Sex Offenders. He joined the Indianapolis Police Department in 1998, and has been a detective during the last seven years, and also assists the IMPD training academy staff with the defensive tactics program for the recruits. His training experience includes the FBI’s Street Survival School in Virgiania, boxing and kickboxing. |
 Damon Young is a patrol officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. He graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. degree in Chemistry and used this education to secure a job in the pharmaceutical laboratories at Eli Lilly. Damon’s strong martial arts background and understanding of human conflict was noticed by co-owner, Jeff Patterson. As a result, he was asked to join the Escape Plan team where is now primary instructor. |

Andrea Simpson graduated from Indiana University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science. She has had experience in sales and recruiting but for the majority of her career has owned and operated a security company in Bloomington, IN. As Executive Assistant, Andrea is instrumental in the smooth operations of the administrative responsibilities, creative marketing and organizational details of Escape Plan events. She’s driven by her passion to continue educating and helping people with their personal safety.
